Etymologie: pendulifolium = mit herabhängenden Blättern
Vermehrung: Aussaat, Teilung
Herkunft: Kolumbien, Ekuador, Peru
Standort: epiphytisch im feuchten und nassen Tropenwald in Höhenlagen von 100-400m beiderseits der Anden
Anmerkungen: N.E. Brown in The Gardeners' Chronicle, November 26, 1904: "Diese schöne und sehr eigenständige Art ist seit 1877 in Kew in Kultur, wurde aber nie beschrieben. Sie wurde in diesem Jahr von J. Linden aus Brüssel erhalten, ist also wahrscheinlich eine der Pflanzen, die von seiner Firma in Kolumbien eingeführt wurden. Im Habitus ähnelt sie A. Veitchii, die langen hellgrünen Blätter hängen wie bei dieser Art an den Blattstielen herab, aber die Nervatur ist völlig anders."

Die pürierten, gekochten Blätter werden von den Siona-Indianern (Putumayo, Kolumbien) in einem Wasserbad zur Linderung von Knochenschmerzen und Rheumatismus verwendet.
